Day 1: Arrive Rangoon
Arrive in Yangon where you will be met by the guide at the airport and transferred to the Sule Shangri-La Hotel for a 2 night stay. Superior room. Rest of the day at
leisure.

Day 2: Yangon City Tour
Although Yangon is no longer the official capital of the country it is still one of the most dynamic and busiest cities in the country. Today explore the many cultural and historical highlights that can be found in between the hustle and bustle of city life. Drive to downtown for a photo stop around the Town Hall and old streets lined with colonial buildings. See the colossal reclining Buddha of Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda and take a stroll in the park at Kandawgyi Lake. Then visit Botataung Pagoda and jetty. In the afternoon, grab a bargain at Scott Market (closed on Mondays and public holidays). In the evening take in the spectacular view of Shwedagon Pagoda all lit up. This is the most important Buddhist site in the country and is said to hold strands of Buddha’s hair and other relics. The spire reaches up to 110m and is encrusted with diamonds and covered by gold plate.

Day 3: Yangon - Mandalay

This morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Mandalay. Be met on arrival and transferred to the Mandalay Hill Hotel for a 1 night stay. Superior Palace View room. Mandalay is the last of the royal cities and is encompassed by smaller capital cities dotted around its edges. The centre piece of the city is the reconstructed palace which is surrounded by a large moat. Visit Mahamuni Pagoda with its statues created in Buddha’s true likeness. See the largest book in the world at Kuthodaw Pagoda, where stories are etched upon 79 stone tablets and visit Shwenandaw monastery. Afternoon free.

Day 4: RV Paukan Cruise
Transfer to the jetty. The embarkation time is 1000 hrs at Sagaing jetty and cast off after half an hour. Welcome Cocktail and briefing in the Saloon or Sundeck followed by Lunch. Your Cabin is on the Main Deck. Cruise all day long. In the late afternoon stop at Yandabo, a village specialising in Pot-Making. Visit the Pot workshops, the monastery and the school. Moor overnight near the village of Shwe Nann Tint.

Day 5: RV Paukan Cruise

Early in the morning continue downstream to Bagan. After breakfast (if time permits) visit another typical river village. Enjoy the sunrise near Bagan. Passengers will disembark at Bagan Aye Yar jetty by 0930 hrs. Disembark from the cruise for sightseeing in Bagan, where the landscape is a sea of stupas and temples. This ancient city and important archaeological site once held more that 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries. Only 2,200 temples survive. This afternoon explore some of these temples and watch the sunset from atop Shwesandaw Pagoda.

Day 6: Bagan
Morning visit to Manuha Temple, a small square shaped building that is steeped in legend and later to Myinkaba village. See its ancient temple adorned with paintings and then pop into a local craft shop where lacquer ware is expertly made by hand. Stroll through the villages to see how the local community lives. Stop at toddy palm plantations and huts to see how palm wine is collected. Watch the sunset over Bagan. Stay 1 night at the Thazin Garden Hotel in a Deluxe room.

Day 7: Bagan - Inle Lake
Your guide will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Heho. On arrival you’ll be transferred to Inle Lake. Take a boat ride across the lake and admire the unique one-legged rowing style as you pass by floating gardens filled with fruits and vegetables. Visit the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, famed for its five small gold-gilded Buddha images. See traditional handicrafts villages and Nga Pe Kyaung Monastery better known as the Jumping Cat Monastery. Although the performing cats no longer remain, the monastery houses an impressive collection of Buddha images. Check in and stay 2 nights at
Inle Resort in a Garden Cottage.

Day 8: Inle Lake - Indein

Morning visit to one of the local markets then see craftsman at work building wooden boats, creating Buddha images made from the powder of dried flowers and watch as workers hand roll Burmese cigars! In the afternoon, cruise to Indein nestled on the banks of the lake. The village is famous for its overgrown and mystifying 16th century stupas as well its handicrafts.

Day 9: Inle Lake - Yangon

This morning, transfer to Heho airport for the flight to Yangon. Be met on arrival and privately transferred to The Sule Shangri-La Hotel for a 1 night stay in a Superior room.

Day 10: Yangon departure
Transfer to the airport for your flight departure.
