Travel
There are frequent scheduled flights from Kuala Lumpur to Penang. The airport is located 10 miles south of the capital, Georgetown, and 20 miles south of the main beach resort area of Batu Ferringhi with a journey time of around 50 minutes. We can arrange for you to be met on arrival at Penang Airport and transferred privately to your accommodation. From £10 per person.
Attractions
The summit of Penang Hill, at 720 metres offers an interesting drive and breathtaking views of the Island. Penang is renowned for its markets. Shop for bargains at the night market in Batu Ferringhi, or the flea markets in Georgetown. The capital of the island, Georgetown, is a lively place to visit in the evenings; take a pedal-powered trishaw ride through the city’s narrow streets and see the largest collection of 18th and 19th century houses in south-east Asia.
When to go
Penang has an equatorial climate with temperatures ranging from a low of 22°C to a high of 30°C year round. The driest time to visit is January and February which is also the busiest period for visitors, with the wettest months from September to November. |
