Ancient golden temples, mystical pagodas, saffron-robed monks, towering skyscrapers and bustling open air markets. You can explore the city sights by river bus or tuk-tuk, browse for bargains at the local markets, marvel at the Grand Palace and sample the colourful nightlife. |
Travel
Bangkok’s new Suvarnabhumi Airport is served by numerous International airlines. The airport is 16 miles from the city, with a journey time of between 45-60 minutes, depending on the time of day. We can arrange for you to be met on arrival at the airport and a private car transfer to your hotel from £19 per person. Bangkok is notorious for traffic gridlock so we recommend visitors utilise the new Skyrail monorail. The more adventurous can sample a ‘tuk-tuk’, the three wheeled street cab, but always agree the fare first.
Attractions
No visitor should miss a visit to the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, or a trip on the klongs (canals) and floating market. Dinner on an outside deck of a cruise on the Chao Phraya River is a relaxing way to see the city skyline and riverside activity. Further afield we offer tours to the infamous River Kwai and historic ancient city of Ayuthaya.
When to go
Bangkok is hot all year round with temperatures averaging around 30-35°C. The best time to visit is between December and January when it’s slightly cooler and drier. The wet season is from May to October, coinciding with the hottest time of the year.
